The newest art exhibition at The Center for Rural Development features artwork from a talented group of artists from Pulaski and surrounding counties.
The Wandering Artists, a newly formed group of artists who came together because of their mutual love of art, includes “a sampling” of their original works of art, featuring different mediums, styles, and subject matters. Some of the pieces on display are painted on location at Pulaski County Park, Cumberland Falls, Burnett Farms, and other Kentucky sites, while others are submitted studio pieces.
Exhibiting members include:
- Cheryl Burnett of Somerset, a retired art teacher who owns the local Burnett Farms where the Annual Sunflower Paint Out at the farm is hosted by daughter-in-law Sarah
- Cece Butcher of Somerset, an art instructor who maintains a studio at Cooper Community Art Center
- Diana Colgate of Somerset, an art instructor who lives on a cottage houseboat and exhibits at the Artisan Center in Berea
- Cornelia Cooper of Somerset is an honorary exhibiting member
- Roni Gilpin of Lincoln County, a multi-talented artist who has exhibited extensively at the Art Center for the Bluegrass in Danville
- Linda Gover of Somerset, an art instructor and exhibiting artist who has been active in the local art scene for years
- Janie Hail of Somerset, a watercolorist specializing in landscapes and house portraits
- Liz Isaacs of Somerset, a writer and watercolorist who also creates scherenschnitte paper cuttings
- Kasandra McNeil of Nancy, who has a studio at The Artists’ Attic in Lexington and exhibits widely across the region
- Karen Roland of Greensburg, award-winning artist specializing in plein air painting
- Henrietta Scott of Somerset, a retired adjunct professor of Campbellsville University with a life-long commitment to the arts
- Peggy Sherry of Somerset, a professional artist for over 40 years working in a variety of mediums
- Cookie Thompson of Somerset, a member of The Escape Artists and specializes in watercolor
There is no charge to attend the reception or view the exhibit. The art exhibition will be on display through April 30.
The Wandering Artists meet each month to paint outdoors “en plein air” at different scenic locations throughout South Central Kentucky and the Cumberland region.
