Learn how to write a compelling proposal at Grant Writing 101
Whether you’re writing your first grant proposal or are an experienced grant writer, grant applications can be extremely competitive.
The Center for Rural Development is hosting a Grant Writing 101 workshop on Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. that will give grant writers the essential skills they need to write a successful grant proposal from start to finish.
The instructor-led workshop is open to both beginners and advanced-level grant writers.
New or beginner grant writers will learn the basic tools to get start writing a grant proposal and more experienced grant writers will have an opportunity to advance their skills and keep up with the current grant-writing trends.
Online registration is now open. The cost is $149 per person.

Meet your instructor
Melissa Vermillion has been a grant writer for Hazard Community and Technical College since 2010. Currently, she is the Director of Grants and Contracts for Hazard Community and Technical College.
Melissa has successfully written grant applications to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Endowment for the Arts, Appalachian Regional Commission, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Education TRIO programs, and several private funders, securing over $20 million in grant funding.
Prior to joining the college, she was the director for Aging Programs in Perry County where she was also successful in a variety of grant opportunities.
Melissa has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s in business administration from Morehead State University.
She has been married to Kevin Vermillion for 30 years and has two adult children, Rebekah and Alex.
