A new art exhibit by two Kentucky artists is on display at The Center for Rural Development.
The exhibit, “Art: From the Mountains to the Sea,” showcases the work of Estill County resident Donna Morgan and William F. Adams, who makes his home in Madison County.
Morgan, who lives on a 145-acre farm in Eastern Kentucky, began painting in 2010 with a focus on the birds and landscapes that are part of the beauty of Appalachian. She uses acrylics, oils, and watercolors to produce art that explores the order of nature.

“Using acrylics, watercolors, and oils, I seek to explore and share the beauty of an untamed yet ordered world,” said Morgan. “My paintings are based on the perfection of nature, from the curve of a hawk’s bill to the symmetrical arrangement of feathers. To allow others to bring a taste of the outdoor world into their lives is my goal.”
She has sold her art nationally and internationally to private and corporate collectors. Morgan is a juried member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Crafters. She also directs Brushy Fork Institute, a community development outreach program of Berea College.
For more than 40 years, Adams has produced art through which he strives to capture the beauty of the earth. He is a full-time, professional artist and has sold art to both individuals and corporate sponsors around the world. Morgan is an avid practitioner and teacher of martial arts, and the influence of this practice is evident in many of his works.
Coming Home
“The beauty I have seen in this great nation colors my art from my palette to the canvas,” Morgan said. “I strive to share this beauty in my landscapes and wildlife paintings. I am especially passionate about artwork that explores the beauty of the water. I enjoy painting oceans, rivers, streams, waterfalls, clouds, a single drop of dew, or the mournful journey of a tear.”
The art exhibit is free and open to the public. Viewers may stop by The Center from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and during extended evening and weekend hours when the building is open for special events.
