Protect your business against cyber attacks

Technology is becoming increasingly important in the everyday lives of small and medium business owners and employees. With this increase in technology comes the responsibility to secure data and consumer information in new ways.

Cyber security is often thought of as a protection for large businesses, corporations, and government entities. However, according to a recent study, 71 percent of cyber attacks occur against businesses with less than 100 employees.

In a new Your Center of Learning seminar, Cyber Security Training for Management, you’ll learn how to apply proven techniques and strategies to protect your business.

Justin Hensley, network director for the Department of Information Technology and professor for the School of Computer and Information Services at the University of the Cumberlands, will be leading a seminar on cyber security for the business community on Wednesday, Feb. 24, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at The Center for Rural Development.

“In order for our businesses to stay safe and secure, we must act today to make necessary changes,” Hensley said. “However, we have to know what changes to make and how to make them properly.”

The half-day training seminar will cover security policy development and implementation, business continuity and disaster recovery planning, and compliance and governance. Participants will leave with the knowledge necessary to better protect their businesses and families.
