BalsamRange.jpgFive talented acoustic musicians and singers from the Blue Ridge Mountains are coming to Center Stage for the first time in a hand-clapping, toe-tapping bluegrass concert.

Balsam Range—voted 2014 International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Entertainer and Vocal Group of the Year—will perform on Friday, Feb. 19, at 7:30 p.m. at The Center for Rural Development.

The concert is part of the Center Stage performing arts series presented by Lake Cumberland Performing Arts in partnership with The Center.

Balsam Range is comprised of five gifted friends who make their home in North Carolina’s Haywood County surrounded by a majestic range of mountains.

Band members include Tim Surrett, a 2014 Mentor Award winner; Buddy Melton, 2014 IBMA “Male Vocalist of the Year”; Caleb Smith, one of the top young guns of guitar; Darren Nicholson, gifted mandolin player and harmony singer; and Grammy-Award winner Marc Pruett.

Elements of jazz, country, gospel, swing, and old-time music are all infused into the fresh sound of this unique Southern band. The group’s fifth album, “Five,” made its Billboard Chart debut at No. 4 and remained on the Billboard chart for an impressive six weeks.

For tickets, call the Box Office at 606-677-6000 or purchase tickets online for the Center Stage performance of Balsam Range. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students and children (preschool through college).
