Forward in the Fifth, a nonprofit education organization that helps to raise educational attainment levels in the Fifth Congressional District, is seeking nominations for the Appalachian Leaders in Education (AppLE) Awards.
Now in its fourth year, the AppLE Awards recognize leaders in education, including local parent and student groups, who have made significant contributions to promote and support education in Forward in the Fifth’s 45-county primary service region.
“Educational success takes many forms across Southern and Eastern Kentucky. From the classroom to the community, dedicated individuals are providing opportunities that create firm foundations for future success regardless of one’s destination,” said Jim Tackett, executive director of Forward in the Fifth. “Our AppLE Awards salute each and every one who champions such a cause.”
The AppLE Award categories for nominations include:
- Educator (early childhood, K-12, higher education, adult education)
- Community/Business Leader
- Parent or Parent Group
- Student or Student Group
