2013 Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award (EIEA) recipient Paul D. Dole knows to be a successful entrepreneur you have to take risks.

“The definition of an entrepreneur is one who organizes, manages, and assumes the risk of a business or enterprise, and that’s exactly what we do at KCEOC,” said Dole, president and CEO of KCEOC Community Action Partnership Inc. “We organize people, we organize programs, and we all take a risk in our endeavor to end poverty.”

Dole, named one of the region’s top entrepreneurs in Southern and Eastern Kentucky, celebrated his EIEA win in the Not-For-Profit award category on Oct. 21 at an EIEA Hometown Event in Barbourville.

The EIEA program—honoring excellence in entrepreneurship since 2001—recognizes business owners and entrepreneurs for their economic success, community contributions, and operational achievements in a business or nonprofit organization.

The regional awards program is sponsored by Eastern Kentucky University’s College of Business and Technology, Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation, Southeast Kentucky Economic Development Corporation (SKED), and The Center for Rural Development.
