This drawing by a Pulaski Elementary School art student explores the signature style of famed American painter Georgia O’Keeffe.

A collection of artwork by Pulaski Elementary School fifth-grade art students is on display in a new visual arts exhibit at The Center for Rural Development.

In the exhibit, “An Elementary Look at the Masters,” student artists explore techniques used by some of America’s greatest painters.

“Studying the techniques and processes of the masters opens up a new way of thinking for our young artists,” said Delilah Young, art teacher at Pulaski Elementary School. “Each student selected a painting to study and emulate, thereby, learning about the style and methods of the master artists.”

Students studied the work of master artists Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cezanne, Claude Monet, and Georgia O’Keeffe.

“This exhibit showcases the talents of some of our region’s youngest artists,” said Dianna Winstead, associate director of arts, culture, and events at The Center. “We welcome the opportunity to spotlight the work of these young, aspiring artists and other artists in our region.”

Thirty-eight student drawings are included in the exhibit and will be on display through December.
