U.S. Congressman Harold "Hal" Rogers (KY-05) recognizes Rogers Scholars graduate Faith Call for her leadership role on a community playground project.

U.S. Congressman Harold “Hal” Rogers (KY-05) has recognized a 2011 graduate of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program for her work on a local playground project.

Rogers commended Rogers Scholars graduate Faith Call for taking a leadership role in helping to raise funds for a children’s playground in Pulaski County as part of her Rogers Scholars community service project.

“The Rogers Scholars program was the little shove that I needed to push me to do something big,” she said in a summary report on the playground project. “I am grateful that I could be a leader of a project that will make the lives of people happier now and for generations to come.”

Firebrook Park, a children’s playground, is located on Ferry Road behind Firebrook Fire Department.

Congressman Rogers recognized Faith’s community service work during a press conference on Tuesday, March 28, at The Center. Dr. James R. Ramsey, president of the University of Louisville, was here to announce the university is offering college scholarships for current and future graduates of the Rogers Scholars program.

Several Rogers Scholars graduates were in the audience and stayed to have photos taken with Dr. Ramsey, Congressman Rogers, and Lonnie Lawson, president and CEO of The Center.
