If you want to know more about Apple’s iPad or iPhone, or just want to make sure you are getting the maximum use from these mobile devices, The Center for Rural Development is hosting a one-day-only introductory training class on Oct. 29 to help get you up to speed on some of today’s hottest, cutting-edge mobile communication tools.
Instructor DeAnna Proctor, information technology manager at Somerset Community College, will provide step-by-step instructions and hands-on demonstrations on how to use Apple’s revolutionary iPad and iPhone—from the basic functions and features to downloading and using applications.
This one-day training class will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at The Center, located at 2292 South U.S. 27 (at Traffic Light 15) in Somerset. The training opportunity is part of the exclusive instructor-led and online training classes presented through The Center’s Your Center of Learning business and workplace skills training program.
“I use an iPhone and iPad every day and couldn’t do many of the things on the go that are related to my position without them,” said Proctor, who has worked in the Information Technology Department at Somerset Community College for the last 12 years. “With the latest mobile technology, I have access to work and personal information, music, movies, and the Internet all on one device wherever I go.”
During the class, students will learn how to identify the device buttons, switches, and status icons on their iPad; learn typing techniques using onscreen keyboard and editing features; be taught the multi-touch function using scrolling finger dynamics; learn how to use Safari; receive an overview of built-in applications and the Apple iTunes Store; learn to use the iBooks app to download and read books; and much more.
“Learning all the bells and whistles on your new iPad or iPhone can be overwhelming for first-time users,” said Robyn Phillips, training and e-learning services coordinator for The Center. “We hope to simplify that process and, along the way, teach you some new, time-saving features to help get the most from these mobile devices.”
