Friday the Thirteen turned out to be a “lucky” day for Gina Sears of Corbin.
Sears is the grand-prize winner of a Houseboat Vacation on Lake Cumberland—valued at up to $3,500 plus a $200 fuel allowance—in a regional fundraising campaign to support The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars summer youth leadership program.
The winning ticket was drawn July 13 at The Center in Somerset on the final day of the second week of the 2012 Rogers Scholars graduating class.

This is the second year in a row a Corbin woman has won a Houseboat Vacation package on Lake Cumberland courtesy of Conley Bottom Resort Marina.
“We are extremely grateful for Conley Bottom’s support,” said Stephens. “The Center also wants to thank everyone who has purchased houseboat tickets that help fund the Rogers Scholars program.”
All of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to support Rogers Scholars and the youth of Southern and Eastern Kentucky.
Rising high school juniors from within The Center’s 42-county primary service area are selected each year to attend one of two summer sessions of Rogers Scholars and grow their leadership and entrepreneurial skills.
Each graduate earns exclusive scholarship opportunities from 16 partner colleges and universities.
Dates and availability of the Houseboat Vacation package are subject to approval of the marina owners.
The value of the vacation prize will be subject to seasonal rates, and is considered taxable income to the winner, which will be reported to the U.S. Government and the winner on Form 1099. Exemption Number EXE0001356 has been assigned to The Center for Rural Development for this and other fundraising efforts.
