Rogers Scholars met with representatives from some of Kentucky’s top colleges and universities on Tuesday at a college and career fair and later that evening put on their dancing shoes to learn ballroom dancing.
After talking with college recruiters and visiting the different booths at the career exploration event, Rogers Scholar Mariah Tiller of Hazard said she is definitely keeping her options open on where she will attend college.
“The college fair got me to thinking that I need to branch out more and visit different college campuses,” said Tiller, who plans to attend the Gatton Academy at Western Kentucky University in the fall. “I am now looking at where I want to finish college rather than where I am going to start.”
The favorite activity of the day for Rogers Scholar Brianna Scott, a junior at Green County High School, was learning to ballroom dance.
“It was something that I had never done before,” she said.
On Wednesday, Rogers Scholars will learn more about The Center for Rural Development’s affiliate organizations, met Lindsey Wilson College President Dr. William T. Luckey Jr., and participate in a community service project at Conley Bottom Resort Marina in Wayne County.
