If you haven’t purchased a $5 ticket for the chance to win a luxurious houseboat vacation on Lake Cumberland in The Center for Rural Development’s regional fund-raising campaign to support Rogers Scholars, then you still have time.
Tickets are available at The Center’s main office in Somerset and will remain on sale until Friday, July 13, when the winning ticket is drawn on the final day of the second and last 2012 Class of Rogers Scholars.
U.S. Congressman Harold “Hal” Rogers (KY-05) is scheduled to speak earlier that day before a group of Rogers Scholars and will draw the winning ticket shortly after his presentation.
The winning ticketholder will receive a Houseboat Vacation—valued at up to $3,500 plus a $200 fuel allowance—courtesy of Conley Bottom Resort Marina in Monticello.
The winner does not have to be present to claim the prize and will be notified via telephone immediately following the drawing.
Each ticket sold through the Houseboat Vacation campaign will support The Center’s flagship youth program, Rogers Scholars. The program gives rising high school juniors an opportunity to build their leadership skills and get access to exclusive scholarship opportunities from 16 colleges and universities.
Tickets for the Houseboat Vacation may be purchased by calling The Center at 606-677-6000, emailing youth@centertech.com, or stopping by The Center, located at 2292 South U.S. 27 (at Traffic Light 15) in Somerset, Ky., from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Dates and availability of the vacation package are subject to approval of the marina owners.
The value of the vacation prize will be subject to seasonal rates, and is considered taxable income to the winner, which will be reported to the U.S. Government and the winner on Form 1099. Exemption Number EXE0001356 has been assigned to The Center for Rural Development for this and other fundraising efforts.
